- There is no limit to the number of guests a graduate may bring.
- Tickets are not required to attend the Liberal Arts & Sciences Recognition Ceremony.
- Everyone entering the O’Connell Center will have to pass through a metal detector. To enhance guest safety and ensure efficient entry in to the building, it is recommended to leave bags at home or use a clear bag.
- Traffic will be heavier than usual on commencement days. Plan accordingly.
- Guest seating is first-come, first-seated. In an effort to accommodate all of our guests, please fill in every seat. Please note, upon completion of each event, guests will be asked to exit the arena promptly so the space can be prepared for the next event.
- No guests are permitted in the graduates’ seating area.
- Guests will not be seated during the processional; late arrivals must wait until the procession ends. Note your graduate’s processional time and please arrive early.
- Cell phones should be placed on silent mode.
- Dress appropriately for the occasion.
- Please remain for the entire ceremony as a sign of respect for all graduates.
- Photographs are encouraged, but please remain in your seat when photographing or recording any portion of the ceremony. Photographs of each graduate as they cross the stage are available from professional vendors who will contact all graduates with purchasing information. Family pictures with the graduate in full academic regalia are generally taken before the ceremony.
- Guests must be seated during the ceremony. For the safety and view of all of our guests, prolonged standing in the aisles, walkways and stairways of the O’Connell Center to watch the ceremony is not permitted.
