Liberal Arts and Sciences Student Recognition Ceremony

Spring 2024 graduates are invited to attend two different types of ceremonies – the University-wide ceremony, and their college’s Recognition Ceremony.

At the University-wide ceremony, all bachelor’s and master’s degrees will be conferred and there will be a guest speaker.

At the individual college Recognition Ceremonies, each graduate will have their name called as they cross the stage.

Saturday, May 4, 2024 at at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center

Ceremony 1 (9 a.m.)

All Master’s Degrees, Bachelor’s Degrees in African American Studies, Anthropology, Astronomy/Astrophysics, Biology/Botany/Zoology, Chemistry/Biochemistry, Classical Studies, Computer Science, English, Microbiology and Cell Science

7:30 a.m.: Doors open for graduates and guests
8:30 a.m.: Student Processional begins
9:00 a.m.: Ceremony begins
11:00 a.m.: Ceremony ends

Ceremony 2 (2 p.m.)

Bachelor’s Degrees in Economics, Foreign Languages & Literatures, Geography, Geology, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, International Studies, Jewish Studies, Linguistics, Marine Sciences, Mathematics, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion, Spanish and Portuguese Studies

12:30 p.m.: Doors open for graduates and guests
1:30 p.m.: Student Processional begins
2:00 p.m.: Ceremony begins
4:00 p.m.: Ceremony ends

Ceremony 3 (7 p.m.)

Bachelor’s Degrees in Criminology, Physics, Psychology, Sociology, Statistics/Data Science, Sustainability Studies, Women’s Studies

5:30 p.m.: Doors open for graduates and guests
6:30 p.m.: Student Processional begins
7:00 p.m.: Ceremony begins
9:00 p.m.: Ceremony ends


  • The Processional begins 30 minutes prior to the scheduled ceremony. Due to the number of individuals that will be on campus, graduates should plan accordingly as travel time may be increased.
  • Graduates will be recognized by name as they cross the stage.
  • Each graduate will have a photo taken while crossing the stage (photo proofs will be sent to the address provided on the name card included with the graduates’ regalia order).
  • This ceremony will celebrate bachelor’s and master’s only – doctoral candidates are not included in this ceremony.
  • Tickets are not required.
